This one has been a long time coming. TrueCoach hasn't been around for that long but their predecessor, Fitbot has been on the market since 2015. I'm not sure why they took a massive turn but for whatever reason, it seems to be for the better. I wrote a comprehensive review of the TrueCoach software to see what all the fuss is about.

About TrueCoach
TrueCoach is an online personal training software, alternative to PT Distinction and Trainerize. They're on a mission to provide coaches with a time-saving way to grow their training business while delivering the best possible experience for their clients. Check out their welcome video:
At the time of writing they claim to have 5k+ coaches using their system, 100k+ total users (I assume that means clients) and 10m+ workouts delivered.
TrueCoach is a cloud-based solution designed for fitness centers, personal trainers and gym owners everywhere. The services available are on offer on a monthly subscription basis, with support available via live chat.
What you see is what you get with TrueCoach. True Coach pricing provides a transparent system that is designed to be 100% free for your clients, True Coach has a default month to month setting, with no yearly contracts.
There is an annual billing option for those personal trainers that want to be ahead, and this comes with two months free should you choose to go for it.
TrueCoach offers a 14-day free period, so the My PT Website team decided to try the software so we can help you to understand more about how this personal training system could revolutionize the way you run your fitness business.
TrueCoach Features
Built to enable one to one coaches to grow, TrueCoach is designed to free the time of personal trainers who want to get out of the gym a little more and work on their business, rather than be in their business all the time. The platform is carefully designed and there are tons of features available including:
A Workout Builder.
Quickly deliver personalized workouts using exercises and videos from your client library. It's got a free-form workout builder to give you some freedom in your workout style, too. This is great for more experienced trainers but it lacks in design and imagery that newer trainer might like.

With that said, you get a view of your clients' training plans so that you can be on top of what they need at all times, enabling you to deliver better workouts and better tracking.
Video Exercise Library.
A pre-loaded video exercise library with over 850 videos available for clients, enabling you to access your videos anywhere. Get on-screen and tailor your own videos should you wish to move away from the built-in library.
Messenger. Your clients can message you directly and comment on their workouts directly on the app.
Client Management. The ease of being able to manage all your clients with personal training software is designed to make your business run more efficiently. The increase in accountability and connection with your clients allows you to give your attention to clients as they need it.
Email Notifications. The ability to notify your clients of scheduled workouts ahead of time equates to excellent customer service. These handy reminders also let you know when workouts are due, so your clients never miss a session.
Progress Tracking. Visualizing progress is important, and this tool allows you and your clients to log results, track exercise history and change goals over time. TrueCoach allows you to track client progress to help you to make tweaks to their program when needed.
Nutrition Tracking.
Along with building programs, you can assign high-level macros goals and measure client progress on an individual basis over time.
Team Accounts.
All the plans that are available on TrueCoach are designed to include support for teams. Share your exercise library and scale your coaching business to new levels!
Theming.
The ability to customize your account with your personal training business logo, colors and branding is often of importance to making your business as professional looking as possible. Configure TrueCoach to match your specific branding, and you'll impress your clients even more.
Payment System.
You can automatically bill your clients inside the dashboard as provided on TrueCoach. The ability to do this means that you get one less manual task to deal with.
Client Video Feedback
This feature allows your client to upload videos directly into the app, so you can watch them back in normal and slow motion and create a video analysis about their exercise technique and send them feedback. The slo motion playback feature will help you spot small inaccuracies that you can aim to fix by adjusting the client's plan to address them.
TrueCoach ends the days of spreadsheets and emails to communicate with clients, putting everything into one reliable platform for coaches to manage their clients effectively. With one place to communicate, build workouts and personalize the client experience, personal trainers can provide a personal coaching experience that changes the way that they do business.
Strengths
Easy To Use
Clients will appreciate the email reminders for workouts and the in-app organization makes for smooth user experience. It's simple enough to find most things although a few things were hard to find which I'll mention in the Weaknesses.
Customisable Program Options
This is a bit of a double edged sword because what the programming feature lacks in design, it makes up for in the ability to customise every workout to the finest details.
In App Messages
Clients can benefit from individual messages. It isn't listed as a feature but this could very well be used for habit coaching.
Progress Pictures
Clients can upload progress pictures to share with their personal trainer throughout their training program.

Clean App Design
Actually, this extends to the whole website. As the founder of a web design company for personal trainers, I can appreciate good design and TrueCoach have certainly nailed it.
It's simple, efficient and easy to use. I think they could actually add more info to their main web pages if anything. There are loads of important features within the app that aren't listed on the main pages clearly.
Designed For Admin - a lot of the mundane manual tasks that have to take place in a personal training business are made much easier.
Weaknesses
Client Experience
This isn't necassarrily a criticism of the client experience itself. More that fact that as a trainer, I have no idea how the client experience works. This is pretty important to me and I had to do a lot of digging to find out what the client gets and sees.
I'm still not 100% clear but it seems the client get an email from you, they can then login and access their workouts via a desktop, smartphone browser or iOS app.

Short Trial
Some coaches found the 14 days not long enough, but this is comparable to others who have said that 14 days was more than enough for a free trial of new software.
Limited Nutrition
As the software is primarily focused on training, the nutrition feature is limited and some trainers would have liked to see more here.
No Android App
TrueCoach is supported on iOS, but not on Andriod so far, which rules out a significant chunk of the industry.
Who is TrueCoach For?
As with anything, TrueCoach has it’s pros and cons and some people love it while others had some issues with the software.
If complex program design is the bread and butter of your fitness business, TrueCoach might be perfect for you.
If nutrition is important in your business model then I'd consider other apps.
Either way, I'm confident your clients would love a "PT in their pocket" feature as part of your services, so enrol onto the trial and see for yourself how it can contribute to your clients' satisfaction.
