If you are just starting out with your personal training business or fitness website, it's extremely important to get a logo that rocks! The human brain has an extremely powerful memory for visual stimulation. Creating a visually stimulating logo that is memorable is important for any business.
I know what you are saying, you are a fitness expert and know nothing about graphic design. Trust me I felt the exact same way, especially after attempting to figure out Photoshop to create my own logo a few years ago. All I can say is that the end result was nothing close to what I was imagining in my head. In fact, it was so bad that I ended up uninstalling Photoshop right then and there and never looked back.
This is why I turned to professionals to help me out. In this article I'm going to be talking about the five best places that you can go to get your fitness logo designed for you. The first two options that I will talk about are completely free but have some limitations. The last three options are paid services ranging from the cheapest to the most expensive.

If you decide to hire a professional to design you a logo, My PT Website offers single priced graphic design services to personal trainers. Whether you need a logo, an eBook or a flyer, feel free to check out what we have on offer on our Branding page. The below 5 options are alternatives and require different level of time and financial investment.
So whether you just recently became a personal trainer or are a veteran that needs a new look for your business, all of your logo questions will be answered by the end of this article.
1. Free Logo Design at Logogenie
Logogenie is one of the best places online that you can get your logo designed for free. It's also extremely easy to start and you will be looking at potential logo designs in less than 1 min.
The only thing that you really need to do is enter your company name and click “start now”. There are also a few other options to choose from such as: your industry, font style and logotype. For logotype you have the choice of an icon-based logo, a shaped base logo or a font based logo.
As an example, I chose to go with the industry of “sports, fitness and coaching” to see what type of logo designs they came up with.
Unfortunately a lot of the logos seemed to have nothing to do with sports or fitness and were pretty random overall. I did however find some that would work well for a personal trainer. Here are some of the examples I saw:
Once you select the logo that best fits your brand, you will have some additional options to further customize the logo. These customizations come in the different types of font, color options as well as spacing or organization of the logo. For example if you wanted your icon to the left or right of the writing you could change this as well.
Although it is possible to not pay anything on Logogenie, they do offer premium services such as downloadable Photoshop files, web optimized and print optimized versions of your logo. You will have to pay additional for these services.

2. Personalize Your Free Logo at Onlinelogomaker
Online logo maker is another free option for designing the logo for your fitness brand. Overall I think that the symbols used on Onlinelogomaker look a lot more “cartoony” than the Logogenie logos did. This is not necessarily a bad thing and you can come up with some pretty cool looking logos.
Just like Logogenie, you start off by putting your company's name and business category. The business category I chose was sports and adventure. This is the closest category towards fitness/coaching that they offer. But overall there were not too many options that were related to fitness.
After choosing your simple logo and the font that you would like to use, you then get to design your logo. The design section is a little bit more in depth with options to upload your own photos and add additional symbols and shapes.

I decided to go with the classic barbell look. Although the font selections were not the best, some of them were decent. This is the end result of messing around on the website for approximately 3 min.
They do not try to push too many other services when you are done creating your logo compared to Logogenie. They only ask for your e-mail address so that your logo can be sent to you. They also have the option to choose business card designs with your logo. These can also be downloaded from your e-mail completely for free.

3. Hire a Logo Design Specialist at Fiverr
The first paid option on the list is to use fiverr.com to hire a professional logo design artist. The prices on Fiverr range from as low as $20 for a design all the way up to over $1000. The quality and experience of all of these designers range significantly but there are a few things that you should look for in order to choose the right person for you, your style and your budget.
The first thing that you need to do is search “logo design” on the main search bar in Fiverr. From there you will have opportunities to filter by price range, seller level (experience and rating), and how quickly you would like the logo to be delivered.
Overall I would browse your price range first checking out all the different designers and examples of their current work. Each designer has a unique style and some might resonate better with the style of your brand compared to others. Here are some of the options that will show up if you search “logo design”:

Some of them offer multiple logo variations that they can provide you if you decide to hire them. I usually suggest getting two different logo concepts drawn up for you as it will increase the chance that you like one of the two.
I recently had my logo redesigned for my Personal Trainer Pioneer website. I ended up going with the seller highlighted by the red box above.
I chose him because I liked his style, he was relatively cheap at $35 and had five overall stars with over 500 reviews. Here is what the revamped logo design look like using a $35 fiverr order:
This was not the first result that came back to me when I ordered the logo on Fiverr. After approximately three or four edits, this was the end result. I'm very happy with the new logo especially knowing that is was only $35 bucks.
The key to getting a good logo out of Fiverr is to be as detailed as possible when explaining what you want. Take screenshots of other logos that you like and send them to the designer so that s/he can get a good idea of the style you are looking for. Be extremely specific about colors, icons and fonts. Make sure to hire somebody that includes unlimited revisions as well.

4. Hire a Freelance Designer at Upwork
Hiring a freelance designer on Upwork can be a very reasonable option for your logo design. Lots of freelance artists promote logo design as one of their most valuable skills on upwork.
The concept for hiring somebody on upwork is very similar to the steps on Fiverr. You should search for “logo design” in the main search bar.
From there you can filter out people based on where they are located, their proficiency in English, their price and how much Upwork experience they have. Since the prices are not fixed like they are on Fiverr, you need to choose an hourly rate that fits your budget.

After finding an artist that you like for a price that is reasonable, the next step is to explain in detail what you want. Just like I mentioned above, the more detailed you are with explaining what you're looking for, the more likely you'll end up with a cool logo.
There are definitely a lot of talented designers on Upwork that can create a fantastic logo for you. The hardest part is finding the right one and having them understand the logo concept that you have in your head.

5. Use 99designs to Have Professional Designers Compete Against One Another
The last option on the list is by far the most costly out of the three paid options. With 99designs you basically pay to be part of a logo design contest. When you sign up for a package, your logo idea is sent to various designers that get paid by 99 designs. All of these designers then go about creating their own version of your logo based upon the criteria that you put forth when you sign up.
This basically results in between 30 and 90 different professional logo ideas that you can choose from. The pricing ranges have to do with how many different design concepts you receive, to the quality of the designers doing the concepts. The prices range from $389 for the bronze package all the way up to $1699 for the platinum.

Although the 99designs is by far the most expensive on this list, I have seen some fantastic designs come from it. All of the designers are extremely skilled and they all put their best foot forward because they want you to choose their design. I am not sure on the details, but I suspect the winner earns a lot more money. So if you want top level designers competing against one another for your personal brand, this is the way to go!
99designs also offers other services such as “brand identity packages” and business card combinations.

Conclusion
Well that's about it ladies and gentlemen on my article on the top five places to get your logo designed for your personal training business.
Obviously there are a lot of options out there that are either free or paid for. There is also the option to try to design the logo yourself if you are daring. I personally tried it and fell flat on my face!
I suggest checking out the two free options first to see if anything resonates with you. You will know within 5 minutes of trying it whether or not you like the styles that they offer.
In terms of the paid options, I think Fiverr has the edge over Upwork. I like how Fiverr has star ratings and reviews for the services that people offer. This kind of reminds me of purchasing something on Amazon, and I'm pretty sure everybody loves Amazon. There is also a lot more sample work to browse through before choosing an artist on Fiverr when compared to Upwork.
If you want to have some blow your mind logo concepts designed for you, 99designs might be up your alley as long as it fits within your budget. I have never talk to anybody that walked away from 99designs being upset with their service. So what's it gonna be?
