Personal Trainer Blog Post Template To Get More Readers

Write a blog

In this blog we talk about how to write a fitness blog post that will encourage your fans to actually read, enjoy, understand and interact with you.

If you want to know exactly how to configure the layout of your blog and utilize the snap decisions your readers will make, then understanding the psychology of your readers will be the difference between yet another stagnant blog post and a blog post that goes viral!

Get More Fans With This Proven Strategy

How would you feel if you could follow a simple template of a proven blog writing strategy that would engage your fans and help you to get more leads. A personal trainer blog is an online tool by which you, as a personal trainer can information or advice with others. Others who blog about fitness may do so to simply share their own fitness regimen or experience with others. Articles, how-to instructions, pictures and videos are typical elements in blogs that convey physical fitness concepts. The following are the steps for writing a fitness blog.
Writing a blog post doesn't need to be difficult. Anyone can do it and there are some very good reasons to get started:

Blogs can be simple - A blog can be a simple tool you can use to interact and engage with your fans and potential leads and you don't need to be a techy pro to start one!

Blogs fuel SEO - Search engines love content and there's no better way to get loads of content on to your site the to write a blog.

Share your expertise - It's hard enough trying to convey your expert thoughts and opinions to your clients face to face. A blog provides a platform for you to vent your fitness frustrations.

Encourage interaction - An effective blog will encourage leads and other fitness industry experts to share your content and make you the leading expert in your area.

Cost effective marketing - Blogging is a long term marketing asset that will help promote brand awareness and your personal training service.

"Either Write Something Worth Reading or Do Something Worth Writing" - Ben Franklin [Tweet This].

Write an Effective Personal Trainer Blog Post - Step by Step

Step 1 - What is the goal of your blog?

Sounds like an easy question, right? Get more clients, get more leads, sell a product.... Your readers will rarely purchase anything directly from a blog post so it's important to be the bearer of good news. The goal of you WEBSITE should be to get more leads and sell your services but a BLOG needs to be a little more subtle. Choose a goal that will assist your readers, like educate about a 10 minute ab workout or an interesting article about the benefits of cabbage (please don't actually write about cabbage). The reader will then be more likely to share your content and visit other pages of your site.

Step 2 - Follow our proven strategy

Using your blog to educate people and become the local expert is great fun but there are ways in which you can educate your readers further, by following this simple template:
blog template
  • Header 1 <H1>
Your headline will be read more than anything else on your personal trainer blog and it serves to do one thing. To get attention. Think of a headline that will encourage your readers to read your opening. Your title should offer yourself as a solution to a problem.
  • Opening
If you can get people to read your first 3-4 sentences they will be more likely to read the rest of your post. Offer the solution to your readers problem and appeal to their emotions early. "How would it feel if...? etc"
  • Half Width Image
People prefer to read short sentences and short paragraphs because every sentence they get through is a mini achievement. A half width image will make your opening sentences smaller and enable readers to make their snap decisions about your content before they lose interest.
  • Sub Heading 2 <H2>
Sub heading should entice your reader to read your content. This is where you tell them that you will solve their problem or provide them with the information they are looking for.
  • Content 1
Your first piece of content should solicit an emotional response from your reader. Ask "how would they feel if...?" in a different way to  the sub heading to get them thinking about the emotional reward of what you have to offer.
  • Call to Action 1
Use a "click to Tweet". People love to quote authorities so when someone tweets your quote it immediately positions you as an authority. You'll also get more traffic from social media as a result! I'll be writing about this in the next blog...
  • Sub Heading 2 <H2>
Now's it's time to deliver the big promise. What exactly will you deliver, what will they learn, the step by step instructions.
  • Content 2
Deliver your advice. It should be practical, easy to understand and easy to implement. If you can get people the results they are looking for, they will remember you as the expert forever!
  • Call to Action 2
This call to action is a little bit different. If you've delivered on your promise then people are more likely to listen to you again and they'll want to keep updated. This is where you ask people to subscribe.

Step 3 - Conclude

Last but not least, finish up your blog post with a 2-3 sentence summarising you main points and encouraging your readers to comment or subscribe.

Now I want you to do one thing! Write a personal trainer blog post using this strategy and post it up in the comments box below.

Now I want you to do another thing! Subscribe to the blog because in the next post I will be teaching how to write the HTML for the click to Tweet link! For ideas for content for your blog, visit our Fitness Marketing Lab.
